Scouts and Lions pitch in at Deception Pass |
|||||||
Boy Scout Troop 4058 helped collect trash and debris at Deception Pass Park April 10. Joining the boys in this photo are Assistant Scout Masters Matt Powell and Robert Mirabel and Scout Master Rick McCormick. Troop 4058 is sponsored by the Coupeville Lions Club, whose members also helped with clean-up. More than 80 Boy Scouts and members of local Lions groups spent Saturday, April 10 cleaning up trash and debris at Deception Pass State Park. The group also worked on a list of projects provided by Park Rangers Benjamin Shook and Ryan Green that included working on picnic tables, cutting and removing broken branches, raking and hauling away fallen debris from parking lots, and preparing lawn areas for the mowing season. As a thank-you for their work, all volunteers received a certificate for one free night of camping at Deception Pass State Park. Participants included the Anacortes Lions Club, North Whidbey Lions Club, Oak Harbor Lions Club, Coupeville Lions Club, Central Whidbey Lions Club, South Whidbey Lions Club, and Lopez Island Lions Club and Coupeville Boy Scout Troup 4058. Scouts spent the entire weekend camping at Deception Pass State Park.
