About Us

Picture
PicturePast International Peace Poster winner.
On A Mission To Serve . . .Lions Serve.  It's that simple, and it has been since the first Lions Club began in 1917.  The Coupeville Lions Club, which was chartered in 1938, is a place where individuals join together to give their valuable time and effort to improve our community, and the world.  Lions Club Emblem.  The two Lions, one facing the past learning from past accomplishments, the other Lion facing the future to see what we may yet accomplish.  Proud of the past, confident of the future.  Lions Club Colors. Gold, purple (blue).  As a Lions Club member, purple stands for loyalty to country, friends, oneself and to the integrity of mind and heart.  Purple is the traditional color of strength, courage and tireless dedication to a cause.  Gold symbolizes sincerity of purpose, liberality in judgment, purity in life and generosity in mind, heart and purpose towards mankind.

Our Mission  . . .
To empower volunteers to serve our community, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions Clubs worldwide. Membership in the Coupeville Lions Club offers opportunities to participate with a group helping those who are less fortunate rather than trying to help alone.

Our Vision . . .
To serve our community by having a visible connection with members of our community through service.  Families and people in our community have unmet needs, and Lions have accepted the challenge to help our fellow citizens. Giving within the group puts more impact and more effectiveness behind our giving than if we stand alone. Together, we can accomplish so much more.

                                                                                   A Truly Good History . . .
Lions Club. Our history is a long one.  And a proud one.  1917 - The beginning of Lions Club International - Responding to social problems created by WWI and rapid industrialization, a Chicago businessman, Melvin Jones, invited business clubs around the USA to meet where the Association of Lions Clubs formed, Chicago, Ill.  For over 100 years, Lions have served with uncommon kindness, putting the needs of neighbors and communities and the world first.  Looking back at Lions storied past with pride, they know it's only the beginning.  Every day, Lions are building on their legacy with the goal of making an even greater impact on the future.

Coupeville, WA.  Our history is an even longer one.  And a proud one.  Founded in 1853, a gentle climate, wide variety of food and easy access to trees to build longhouses and canoes caused natives to build villages around Penn Cove.  Farming, logging and fishing later tempted adventurous and adaptable souls to Whidbey Island's prairies and forests.  Today, descendants of early pioneers who helped preserve the beauty of Ebey's prairie, in the town of Coupeville, are members of the Coupeville Lions Club, continuing to be adventurous and productive individuals serving the community which was founded 166 years ago.
